1945:  April 24:  Sinking of German U-boat, U-546

Depth charges from U.S. Navy destroyer escorts sank German (Type IXC) U-boat, U-546, in the North Atlantic, north-west of the Azores on April 24, 1945.   Beforehand, on the same day, U-546 sank USS Frederick C. Davis (DE-136), with its crew being picked-up by the other Navy destroyer escorts.
