This section details German U-boat attacks on merchant shipping before the United States entered World War I, the U.S. Navy's plan of action, U.S. Navy and Marine Corps leaders, Recruiting Posters, and the Return of the Mayflower (destroyers sent to Queenstown, Ireland).
