Italian Army

Following the start of the war in August 1914, the Kingdom of Italy refused to join the Central Powers and sided with the Allied Forces in May 1915.   At the start, Italian forces were mainly used against the enemy in the northern border against Austria-Hungary.  When Russia left the war, Italian forces were used on the Eastern and Western Fronts while also having a presence in the Middle East
