Battle of Blanc Mont Ridge:  October 3-9, 1918

During the Battle of Blanc Mont Ridge, the U.S. Marines bravely fought while exposing themselves to enemy fire on the sloping limestone rock.  The battle was won by Second Division Marines, serving as a unit of the Fourth French Army between October 3 and 9, 1918.   Due to the Marines heroic efforts, the Germans were forced to retreat from the Champagne Region.
