USN 708655: Ten Years of the WAVY Blue, July 1952

USN 708655: Ten Years of the WAVY Blue, July 1952. Drill Team. The WAVES have been famous for their drill teams, one of which was recently featured in a movie. The WAVE Drill Team of the Naval Training Center at Bainbridge, Maryland, sticks out as they begin one of the many formations executed by the 34 WAVE Trainees. This drill formation, like the formations used going to classes, help the nautically minded women volunteers to better understand the necessity for a smart trim unit needed to win the competitive honors awarded WAVE companies going through their “Boot Camp.” Photograph released July 24, 1952. Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
