The National Museum of the American Sailor has one facility event space that eligible groups may request for meetings, training sessions, official ceremonies, and more. Use of the museum facility is offered free of charge. Organizations and personnel who are eligible to apply to use the facility of the National Museum of the American Sailor are:
Department of Defense and other federal agencies
Public agencies of state and local government
Veterans and military family organizations
The following spaces are available for reservation:
2,875 square foot event space on the museum’s first floor. Features separate entrance from outside, as well as entry to the museum’s galleries.
Capacity: 100 seated, lecture style; 150 standing or seated banquet style.
Good for large events, such as retirements and receptions
Available Equipment: 150 chairs, 10 six foot tables, projector, projector screen, NMCI laptop, regular (non-Navy) laptop, U.S. and Navy flags, stage, microphone, ceremonial items (bell, red carpet, ceremonial bullets)
Please note: The South End is rarely available on Friday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, due to Sailor graduation.
To make a reservation:
For smaller ceremonies or events (such as meetings or reenlistment ceremonies), the museum requires a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice. Larger ceremonies and events (such as retirements and change of commands), require a minimum of 30 days’ notice.

Please note: Your reservation is not assured until you receive a confirmation email from a museum staff member.
Facility reservations do not include parking. Free parking is available in the public lot in front of the National Museum of the American Sailor.
No food or drink is allowed within the museum galleries unless special prior arrangements are made with the museum. Smoking is never allowed in the museum.
Full catering may only be provided by the Naval Station Great Lakes (MWR) Port O’ Call Restaurant/Conference Center. For more information about Port O’ Call catering, please contact (847) 688-6946, ext. 4. Light appetizers and/or baked goods may be brought independently of Naval Station Great Lakes Port O’ Call with the prior approval of the museum staff.
