Facility Reservations

The National Museum of the American Sailor has one facility event space that eligible groups may request for meetings, training sessions, official ceremonies, and more. Use of the museum facility is offered free of charge. Organizations and personnel who are eligible to apply to use the facility of the National Museum of the American Sailor are:

  • Department of Defense and other federal agencies

  • Public agencies of state and local government

  • Veterans and military family organizations

The following spaces are available for reservation:

South End

  • 2,875 square foot event space on the museum’s first floor. Features separate entrance from outside, as well as entry to the museum’s galleries.

  • Capacity: 100 seated, lecture style; 150 standing or seated banquet style.

  • Good for large events, such as retirements and receptions

  • Available Equipment: 150 chairs, 10 six foot tables, projector, projector screen, branch flags, stage, microphone, ceremonial items (bell, red carpet, ceremonial bullets)

Please note: The South End is rarely available on Friday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, due to Sailor graduation.

To make a reservation:

For smaller ceremonies or events (such as meetings or reenlistment ceremonies), the museum requires a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice. Larger ceremonies and events (such as retirements and change of commands), require a minimum of 30 days’ notice.

Please note: Your reservation is not assured until you receive a confirmation email from a museum staff member.

Parking

Facility reservations do not include parking. Free parking is available in the public lot in front of the National Museum of the American Sailor.

Food/Drink

No food or drink is allowed within the museum galleries unless special prior arrangements are made with the museum. Smoking is never allowed in the museum.
