The National Museum of the American Sailor joins the lineup of speakers for the Dunn Museum's 2022 History Symposium. This year's theme is "The Built Environment: Architecture and Landscapes in Lake County." NMAS presentation focuses on the 1942 Hostess House.

Built in 1942 by renowned modernist architect Gordon Bunshaft, Naval Station Great Lakes’ Hostess House is the gathering place for sailors and their families. This presentation will showcase the Hostess House’s original modernist features, explore its original uses as a meeting place for sailors and families, and describes how the Hostess House’s current use as a museum continues the tradition of gathering as a community.

The History Symposium runs from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with NMAS presenting around 10:00 AM.
