U.S. Naval Air Stations:  England

The U.S. Navy had six operating locations in the United Kingdom during World War I.   At Eastleigh, the former British base was used as an assembly, repair, and supply base for the Northern Bombing Group.  The Northern Bombing Group also used the British flying school at Stonehenge for training in night bombers.   At Great Yarmouth, U.S. naval aviators flew on missions with the British on North Sea patrols.   At Killingholme, England, the U.S. Navy established a Naval Air Station in July 1918.    Previously, the station was used as Royal Air Station.  For training, the naval aviators used the Royal Naval Air Station at Portland, England, in early 1918.  Lastly, the U.S. Navy utilized the British Development Center at Felixstowe on the east coast of the country.
