Caption: Lieutenant (junior grade) Thomas A. Dooley served as a doctor during Passage to Freedom. In 1961, Congress posthumously awarded Dooley with this Congressional Gold Medal for his humanitarian service in Southeast Asia. (On loan from Naval History and Heritage Command)
