The Submarine Force Museum (SFM) offers a variety of educational experiences.
For students (Grades 1-12), youths, and life long learners. Scheduling a tour with our Director of Education provides the following:
An inquiry-focused exhibit tour by trained SFM Volunteer Docents or SFM Education Department staff.
STEM-focused submarine-themed activities – i.e., how does a ballast tank work? what is the relationship between mass, volume, pressure, and density?
A self-guided tour of the USS Nautilus (SSN 571) the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine, the only place in the world where the public can tour a nuclear submarine.
For most group visits we suggest planning to remain onsite for approximately 2 hours for the complete experience. Advance group reservations, approximately one month prior to your preferred visit, are required for STEM-focused activities and are subject to classroom availability.
