Photo of AF-2S Guardian launching from escort carrier USS Sicily.
Caption: An AF-2S Guarding assigned to Antisubmarine Squadron (VS) 931 launches from the flight deck of the escort carrier Sicily (CVE 118) during operations at sea in August 1952. VS-931 was one of a number of Naval Air Reserve squadrons to operate versions of the AF Guardian, a challenging airplane when it came to flying from the small decks of escort carriers like Sicily.
