LST-8 was laid down on 26 July 1942 at Pittsburgh, Pa., by the Dravo Corp.; launched on 29 October 1942; sponsored by Mrs. Anne H. Johnston; and transferred to the United Kingdom on 22 March 1943.
LST-8 was returned from the United Kingdom on 1 June 1946 and was struck from the Navy list on 3 July 1946. On 5 December 1947, she was sold to Bosey, Philippines.
