Caption: The Soviet passenger ship ILICH at San Francisco, California, during World War II. She was formerly the Czarist VECHE and IMPERATOR NIKOLAI II. On 23 June 1944 she capsized and sank at Portland, Oregon, in the course of ship yard repairs. The wreck was subsequently broken up.
