Caption: The U.S. tanker ELWOOD at San Francisco, California, about 1942. Note the empty gun emplacements on the forecastle and just forward of the after superstructure indicating that the photo was taken early in the war. After the war ELWOOD was returned to the reserve fleet from which she had been activated and was scrapped in 1950. Built at Chester Sun.
