Caption: The Soviet Freighter ARKTIKA entering San Francisco Bay, California about 1943. Note the paravane boom on her bow. ARKTIKA was built in England in 1936 as one of the first new ships ordered for the USSR. She is believed to have done out of service in 1972 but was still listed in registers as late as 1977.
