The photograph shows them led by a British destroyer, and the order of Italian ships in the line is DORIA, DUILIO, CADORNA, POMPEO, MAGNO, DA RECCO. Below, the surrendering of Italian warships forming line on the escorting British destroyer. The leading Italian ship is the DORIA followed by the DUILIO, and the two ships nearest camera are the cruisers CADORNA and POMPEO MAGNO. The battleships DORIA and DUILIO forming line ahead on the British destroyer. Right: The 35,000 ton battleships ITALIA (ex LITTORIO), and VITTORIO VENETO lying off Malta having left Spezia. The third ship of the class, the ROMA, was sunk by German dive-bombers.
