Description: circa the later 1930s Ships moored with their sterns to the quay include (from left to right): Four 2400-tonne type destroyers, four submarines and one 2400-tonne type destroyer. The nearest destroyer of the four to the left is of the group that had their forward torpedo tubes mounted at the deck edge, and may be Vauquelin, which wore the identification number 52 at one point during this time. The destroyer at right is one of ten ships that had their forward torpedo tubes mounted on the centerline. The ships in the middle distance include a passenger liner and two heavy cruisers.
