Electric Wall Switch, USS San Diego #2010-075-016

<p>A small rectangular brass box with the faceplate opened and attached to the left of the box. The faceplate has three screw holes on the left and three screws attached to the box on the right. In the middle is a small circular knob for the switch. The box contains a small square ceramic block inside with copper and brass fittings. On the right side of the box is a small circular tube for electrical wires to go through.</p>

Description: This electric wall switch was recovered from a WWI era Armored Cruiser, USS San Diego (ACR-6). Electricity was becoming common place in the 1900s and the Navy took advantage of this new technology as seen with this artifact.
