Wardroom Pantry Call Box, USS San Diego, #2010-75-12

A small brass box with a raised circular button in the middle.  Above the circular button is a brass tag with the words “Wardroom Pantry” stamped into it.  At the top of the brass box is a small circular tube for cable to run through.  It is mounted on a square wooden board.

Description: This call box was probably located in the wardroom pantry aka mess hall for officers. The officers usually had their meal separate from the enlisted sailors and had added luxuries such as table cloths and nice dishware.
