Description: WASHINGTON (July 23, 2015) Paul Mardikian, a conservator with TerraMare Conservation and SEARCH, shows the original position of the oil shield inside the middle body section of the now-fully conserved Howell Mark I Torpedo No. 24. Lost from the Iowa (BB 4) during a training exercise and found by a dolphin team from the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program off the coast of San Diego, conservators have been preserving and studying the torpedo since May 2013.
