Vincent, a wooden-hulled, single-screw, cabin motorboat built in 1909 at Lynn, Mass., by Britt Brothers, boatbuilders, was acquired by the Navy on a free-lease basis from the Transfer Company of Norwich, Conn., for use as a section patrol craft and was assigned the identification number SP-3246.
Although listed in the 1918 Ship's Data: U.S. Naval Vessels as commissioned on 28 June 1917, there are no deck logs for the ship to give details of the ship's actual service. She was probably assigned to local patrol duties with the 3d Naval District and operated in that capacity at least through the end of World War I.
She was apparently decommissioned in the summer of 1919. The Ship's Data volume for 1919 lists the craft as being "returned to owner" on 28 June 1919. She was simultaneously struck from the Navy list.
