Susanne (S. P. 411)

1917-1919

The Navy retained the name carried by this small craft at the time she was acquired.

(S. P. 411: tonnage 26; length 76'6"; beam 13'0"; draft 3'4"; speed 23.0 knots (maximum), 21.0 knots (cruising); complement 11; armament 1 3-pounder, 2 machine guns)

Susanne, a wooden-hulled twin-screw cruiser-type motor boat built in 1916 at Port Clinton, Ohio, by the Matthews Boat Co., was acquired by the Navy in May 1917 from T. J. Prindiville of Chicago, Illinois.

Given the fact that there was a Suzanne (S. P. 510) on the Navy Register, Susanne's name was cancelled and the boat known only as S. P. 411. She was commissioned on 3 August 1917 and served on section patrol in the Ninth Naval District until she was stricken from the Navy Register and sold on 15 November 1919.
