Dallas (CA-140)

1945-1946

Dallas (CA-140), projected as the second Salem (CA-139)-class heavy cruiser, was laid down on 15 October 1945 at Quincy, Mass., by the Bethlehem Steel Co., but the curtailment of the Navy’s shipbuilding program in the wake of the end of World War II resulted in cancellation of the ship’s construction on 6 June 1946.
