Canocan (YTB-290)

A Piro Native American pueblo in what is now the state of New Mexico.

Canocan (YTB-290)-- originally projected as YT-290-- built at Everett, Wash., by Everett Marine Ways during 1943-1944, was placed in service on 21 October 1944 and allocated to the Fourteenth Naval District during World War II.

Acquired by The Sea King, of Everett, in 1959, the tug changed hands in 1976, being purchased by the Foss Tug & Launch firm of Tacoma, Washington. She was operated as Iver Foss until acquired by Don Etheridge of Alaska, who renamed her Tagish in 1978.
