Elma

(Sch)

Elma, also referred to as Major Minter, was taken into Confederate army service in July 1862 under plans for arming and manning her to prevent Union forces from entering Corpus Christi bay. On 11 August 1862 Elma was run into the channel of Nueces Bay where she grounded and on the following day she was fired and destroyed to prevent capture.
