Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of various materials kept by Commander Margaret Kinsey while she was a WAVE during World War II through the 1950s. It is arranged in six folders. The first folder contains a limited amount of correspondence, mostly relating to WAVE service, including two letters written while at training camp.

Also in the collection are copies of several WAVE newsletters, including The ALWAV, published at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in 1944-1945; Waves, an official newsletter from 1943 to1946; and Wave Wag, a monthly publication from 1944 to 1945.

The fifth folder contains newspaper clippings about various WAVES; two songbooks; a war rations book; an issue of The Hospital Clipper, 1944; Hospital Highlights, 1945; V Tender, the 3rd anniversary log of Memphis Naval Air Station 1942-1945; and U.S. Naval Training Bulletin, December 1949. Several photographs of groups of WAVES complete the collection.
