Caption: Ship's engine (apparently reciprocating steam type) amidships, exposed when her boiler exploded and opened up her hull. Photographed by Ron Strong while diving on her wreck off Rota, Marianas, Spring 1978. She had been sunk by USS WHITE PLAINS (CVE-66) aircraft, 23 June 1944.
