Description: Photographs and maps related to the discovery, exhumation, and repatriation of John Paul Jones from Paris, France in 1905. Materials were originally in possession of the donor’s grandfather, US Ambassador, General Horace Porter. Photos show street views and buildings at the site of the Old St. Louis Cemetery for Protestants; excavation of crypt; human remains including John Paul Jones; funeral procession 6 July 1905 through Paris. Oversize street map showing crypt locations marked by hand, as well as two small street maps. Oversize photos of excavation and examination of Jones’ corpse. Majority of content was assigned NH numbers.
