Caption: On 29 April 1814, the American privateer schooner PERRY, after a chase of an hour, 10 minutes of which they were closely engaged, captured the British schooner HMS BALLAHOU, commanded by Lieutenant Norfolk King, which was carried into Wilmington, North Carolina. The PERRY mounted 5 guns, one a long 18-pounder on a pivot, with a complement of 80 men. The BALLAHOU's original armament consisted of 4 12-pounder carronades, but two of them had been placed in the hold on account of heavy weather, with a complement of 20 men and measured 76 tons. PERRY measured at least 180 tons.
