Caption: Neurosurgeon, Lieutenant Commander William Stewart, performs a five-hour brain operation on a Marine aboard USS REPOSE (AH-16), 20 April 1966. The Marine was wounded by a mortar shell near Da Nang, underwent emergency field treatment, and then was rushed to the hospital ship offshore.
