Caption: Photographed at Kiel sometime between her commissioning on April 29, 1890 and April 4, 1891 when the Gunboat FALKE was launched (and given her name). Note the name signs over two doors on the building at left: "KREUZER D" (later FALKE), and "AVISO METEOR", both ships building at Kiel. The bow of a hulk appears behind SIEGFRIED; this probably is a coal hulk such as THETIS (1846-1894) or HERTHA (1868-1902).
