Description: Colored plan of a gun and mounting intended for the Confederate ironclad Texas, which was launched in January 1865 at Richmond, Virginia, but not completed. Inscribed in the lower left of the drawing is: Arranged and executed under the direction of George T. Grey (?) Supdt. and Constr. of Naval Gun Carriages, Naval Ordnance Works. Gun Carriage Dept., Richmond, Va., 1864. Prior to its acquisition by the National Archives, this drawing was in the files of the U.S. Navy's Bureau of Construction and Repair. The original is plan # 81-12-22 in Record Group 19 at the U.S. National Archives. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
