Title: Philippine Invasion, 1941-1942.
Caption: Japanese Army heavy artillery units participate in the victory parade held in Manila in May 1942, after the fall of Corregidor. Note tracked prime movers. Copied from the Japanese book: "Philippine Expeditionary Force," by Gasei, published in 1943. Watari Group Information Department Publication. Japanese publisher's note: "We have landed upon the shores of the Philippines, planted the Rising Sun Flag on the battlefields, and have established a New Philippines government. After reminiscing about the battle of the Philippines we have finally decided to publish this book in memory of it. We give thanks to General Homma, former commander of the Japanese Forces in the Philippines, for the title of this book and to war correspondents Kiyoshi Miki, Yojiro Ishisaka, Ashihei Hino, Hiroshi Ueda, and Sadao Yasuda for the captions. We intended to publish this book during the year of 1942, but due to the delay in procuring the printing press we did not start this book until the year 1943. Then by using the presses of the Manila Newspaper and working day and night we were finally able to finish the book in May 1943. We sincerely regret the delay in the publication of this book."
