Philippine Invasion, 1941-1942.
Title: Philippine Invasion, 1941-1942.
Caption: General Homma reviews the Japanese Army's victory parade, held in Manila after the fall of Corregidor, May 1942. Note artillery towed by tracked vehicles. Copied from the Japanese book: "Philippine Expeditionary Force," published in 1943. Original Japanese caption: "Celebration review after the fall of Corregidor: America's harsh claims in Greater-East-Asia were obliterated. The Filipinos were released from the tyrannical hands of the Americans, and the policy of Asia for the Asiatics were instituted. A military review was held after the fall of Corregidor. The day of the fall of Corregidor marked the day of victory for the Japanese spirit over the culture and spirit of the Anglo-Americans. Observe the gallant faces of our troops, though armed with the most modernistic weapons but still retaining the age-old looks of the Samurai. Now the Filipinos have awakened from a bad dream experienced under the influence of the Anglo-Americans and with the aid of the Japanese are reconstructing their country."
