NH 69767-KN Insignia: USS MENHADEN (SS-377)

Insignia: USS MENHADEN (SS-377)
Title: Insignia: USS MENHADEN (SS-377)
Caption: This emblem originated in 1944, prior to MENHADEN's commissioning. It features a fish wearing an Indian war bonnet and carrying a tomahawk with a torpedo for a head. The idea for this design developed because the Menhaden fish was a staple food of the Manitowoc Indians. The ship was built at Manitowoc, Wisconsin. This embroidered patch emblem was received from USS MENHADEN in 1969.
