Caption: Captain Ward was commissioned in February 1944 and served in USS PC-789 in the North Atlantic until after the end of World War II. Since then he has served aboard USS HOLDER (DD-819), operations officer of USS NORFOLK (DL-1), commanding officer of USS JOSEPH K. TAUSSIG (DE-933), and USS LITCHFIELD COUNTY (LST-901). Between ship commands he has seen duty with COMDESRON Thirty as operations officer, the Fleet Training Group Narragansett Bay and Officer Candidate School, with the director, Naval Communications, and as Chief, Defense Communications Agency South East Asia.
