Caption: Friday was wash day for sailors of the Pacific Fleet. Their clothing can be seen hung out to dry under the protection of two three-gun turrets aboard NEW MEXICO, anchored in San Francisco Bay, 9 September 1929. Two other battleships can also be seen: USS IDAHO (BB-42) [middle ship] and USS MISSISSIPPI (BB-41) [far ship].
