Title: Musket, Flintlock
Caption: American "Committee of Safety" flintlock musket of naval pattern. This arm was made up, stock and lock, by American gunsmiths using a cut-down British Brown Bess barrel. Barrel is presently 41 1/2" long, with traces of British crown markings. Present cal. is .80, may have eroded from .75. Overall length of arm is 56"; weight is 10.2 pounds. Brass furniture is American manufacture, following British naval pattern including absence of sling swivels and rounded finial to trigger guard.
