Title: USS ANNAPOLIS (PG-10)
Caption: ANNAPOLIS joined the North Atlantic Squadron in March 1898. During the Spanish-American War she served in Cuban waters. She took part in the action with Spanish gunboats off Havana; attacks on Siboney; and Baracoa. In company with USS WASP and USS LEYDEN, she sank the Spanish gunboat DON JORGE JUAN in Nipe Bay, 21 July 1898. She also took part in the Ponce, P.R., landings (27 July 1898). She was commissioned and decommissioned twice, operating off the Asiatic Station and the American patrol detachment in the Gulf of Mexico before she was transferred to the Maritime commission, 11 April 1940.
