Title: Urn of Lieutenant James Biddle, USN.
Caption: Silver urn made by silversmiths Thomas Fletcher and Sidney Gardiner of Philadelphia. According to the Pennsylvania Gazette, July 6, 1814, the urn was made between 1813 and April 21, 1814. It is now in the collections of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. The engraving reads: "To Lieutenant James Biddle USN from the early friends and companions of his youth who, while their country rewards his public services, present this testimonial of their esteem for his private worth. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 1813."
