Title: Insignia: USS SALMON (SSR-573)
Caption: This insignia was developed to represent SALMON's primary mission as a picket submarine. Thus, a large background of blue sky is shown above the ocean. The SALMON's capabilities of controlling aircraft and guided missiles are also illustrated. The overall desired effect is to show the ship at home both above and below the seas. The insignia was designed by Mr. A.T. Ladd of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, New Hampshire, during the ship's construction period.
