Caption: Unidentified NAGARA-class cruiser on the Whangpoo River, Shanghai, China, in February of 1932. Photographed by G.J. Freret, Jr., and probably taken from USS HOUSTON (CA-30). A few moments after this view was taken, this ship began bombarding the Chinese Woosung Forts below Shanghai. Note scout plane on track forward of the bridge, a distinguishing feature of this class of ships prior to their refit in 1934.
