Truman views two bronze plaques commemorating the surrender of Japan, during his visit to the Naval Gun Factory on 25 September 1945. Accompanying the President are Rear Admiral Theodore D. Ruddock, Navy Yard Superintendent, and Mr. J.H. Brown. The plaques were designed and cast at the Gun Factory. Copies of them were mounted on board USS Missouri (BB-63).
