Caption: The marine battalion from USS FLORIDA (BB-30) going ashore during the U.S. intervention on 21 April 1914. On the right is HMS ESSEX, flying from her foremast the flag of Rear Admiral Cradock, who died later in 1914 in the battle of Coronel. Her sister in the distance may be BERWICK (which sailed for Puerto, Mexico, during the landings), LANCASTER, or SUFFOLK. Note USS ORION (AC-11) and a U.S. Dreadnought on the horizon.
