Vera Cruz, Mexico
Title: Vera Cruz, Mexico
Caption: Warships off Fort San Juan de Ulua near the time of the U.S. landing in April 1914. The three ships in the foreground from left to right are the German cruiser DRESDEN (1909-1915), the Mexican gunboat NICOLAS BRAVO (1903-1940), and the Spanish cruiser CARLOS V (1895-1933). The ship behind the bow of CARLOS V may be the Mexican ZARAGOZA (1891-circa 1930) BRAVO's sister MORALES was probably in the Pacific at this time.
