Caption: USS ARIZONA Memorial, at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. July, 1962. The memorial is an enclosed bridge that transversely spans the hull of USS ARIZONA (BB-39). The ship was sunk during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The memorial is 185' long and varies in width from 27' at the center to 36' at the ends. Its height is 14' at the center and 21' at the ends. The memorial encloses an assembly area large enough to hold 200 people. It also includes a Carillon and a Shrine. The shrine has a marble wall on which are inscribed the names of all those killed on board the ship. Visitors reach the memorial by boat.
