Caption: Locked in Greenland's ice from April to June 1884, when she sailed there on the Greely relief expedition. She was originally built in Scotland as a sailing vessel and was purchased by the United States Navy at St. John's, Newfoundland, January 1884, for use in rescue of Lieutenant A.W. Greely, USA.
