NH 2826 Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia
Title: Savannah, Georgia
Caption: The city gas works, formerly Revolutionary Ft. Wayne. This defensive position commanded the Savannah river for several miles. Three of the original guns may still be seen at the upper edge of the bastion, and the iron hitching posts on the street are others dismounted and buried muzzle-down. Rumor has it that this fortress was in action against the French frigate that bombarded Savannah from a distance.
