Title: ST. PAUL (U.S. passenger liner, 1895)
Caption: Probably shown early in her career. Initially operated by the Army in World War I, she was designated on 13 April 1918 for acquisition by the Navy. On 26 April 1918 she capsized after being towed out of dry dock. She was raised on 11 September and taken over by the Navy on 17 October 1918. She was placed in temporary commission on 14 January 1919, but did not enter service and was returned to her owner on 24 March 1919. Her identification number was 1643.
