Title: Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, 1945.
Caption: U.S. Marines use a rubber assault boat to approach their flooded camp, circa May-June 1945. Heavy rains flooded the area within twenty minutes, forcing the Marines to conduct an amphibious operation to get to their tents. The site was abandoned after gear was secured and a new one was sought on higher ground. Photograph released 25 June 1945.
